Armed Citizen Self Defense


This page lists incidents of armed self defense by law-abiding citizens.  It is an attempt to show that ordinary people can and do defend themselves everyday from violent criminals, and that police are not the only ones capable of using firearms responsibly in public.

This page is directly inspired by this thread from Calguns.net, but does not, to my knowledge repeat any of the incidents listed there, so go there for thirty five additional incidents of successful armed self defense.

Many of these incidents come NRA column "The Armed Citizen", but I will add any incident that can be documented, so please leave a comment so I can increase this list.

Posting Criteria: the incident must take place in public, not in the home. The firearm user must be legally allowed to possess and use firearms, preferably possess a license to carry a weapon in public.
